Top 5 Quarterbacks in College Football
Did you know I have a YouTube channel where you can study draft prospects by watching every pass, target, or carry in a 5-10 minute video instead of having to watch a full three hour game? In this article I am going to be going over my current top five quarterbacks in college football. At the bottom of the article I will list some honorable mentions that I think have top five upside and wouldn’t be surprised if they sneak into my top five with a big year after the season.
Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik is arguably the best quarterback in college football right now. Last season he passed for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns while adding 463 yards and seven scores on the ground. On paper, Clemson looks like the best team in the NCAA and have the 7th best odds to win the Championship right now. Klubnik showed massive improvement from 2023 to 2024, as you can see in the tweet below from
.One of my favorite things about Klubnik is how well he throws on the move. As you can see in the clip below, he goes through his coverage, rolls out to the evade the pressure, and finds Antonio Williams downfield for the touchdown.
Barring an epic collapse from Cade this year, I believe he will be the first quarterback drafted in next year’s draft. He had the highest passing grade last season of the draft eligible prospects for this upcoming draft, per PFF. He has all the tools to be a franchise quarterback at the next level and his rushing floor makes him a valuable fantasy football asset.
Drew Allar
Drew Allar was very impressive as a downfield passer last season. He had an adjusted completion percentage of 53.1, which ranked 4th. Allar is someone I could see being neck and neck all season with Klubnik for QB1 of the class, but I think that Cade’s overall ceiling is higher than Drew’s. Here are some of my favorite tosses from Allar thus far in his college career.
One of my favorite parts of Allar’s game is that he has an absolute hose. As you can see in the clip below, he shows nice timing and ball placement on this throw covering the first down on 2nd and 15. Allar rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns this past season, so like Klubnik, he is a solid fantasy asset because of his rushing floor.
LaNorris Sellers
LaNorris Sellers has all of the raw tools to be the best quarterback in the 2026 draft class, but can he put it all together? Sellers is listed at 6’3” 242 lbs and he is light on his feet for his size. As you can see in the clip below, Sellers shows off the elusiveness and the arm in the three reps.
Below is a chart displaying accuracy by situation.
Sellers is another player that has a safe rushing floor as he rushed for 674 yards and seven touchdowns last season. All three of these prospects will be solid fantasy assets because of their rushing abilities.
Garrett Nussmeier
Last season Garrett Nussmeier got his first shot at starting for the LSU Tigers and he did not disappoint. Nussmeier passed for 4,052 yards and 26 touchdowns. He does not have the rushing floor that the three quarterbacks we just talked about have, as he is a pure pocket passer. This article is sponsored by
charts. Be sure to give them a follow on Twitter! Nussmeier’s pocket movement is arguably the best in this class, as you can see form the chart below. It would take an unreal season from Nussmeier for him to crack my top three, but never say never. Below is a clip of Nussmeier navigating the pocket and finding the open receiver over the middle of the field.
Nico Iamaleava
I don’t think a lot of people are going to expect seeing Iamaleava here, but outside of Sellers, Iamaleava is the most dynamic player in this class with his arm talent and rushing ability. Nico is an intriguing prospect that joins Tino Sunseri at UCLA. Sunseri was the offensive coordinator at Indiana last year where Kurtis Rourke passed for 3,042 yards and 29 touchdowns.
As you can see in the clip below, Nico shows off the velocity he can generate and leads the receiver which gives him the opportunity to walk in for the touchdown.
Nico evades the pressure and finds the open receiver downfield on the move.
This season is a huge prove it year for Nico and I believe he is going to showcase the 5-star recruit talent that he is in a new offensive system. He has elite physical tools and has a fresh start back in his home state. Will he capitalize on the opportunity?
Honorable mentions: Sam Leavitt, Carson Beck, Aidan Chiles, Mark Gronkowski, Miller Moss
